Betty Leslie, an American actress and screenwriter, was born on August 3, 1929, in New York City.
She was the daughter of a lawyer and a socialite. Leslie started her acting career at the age of fifteen when she was offered the role of a neighbor girl in the Broadway production of "Snafu" by the legendary George Abbott, also known as Mr.
Broadway.
Early Career
After her debut in 1944, Leslie went on to have a successful career on Broadway, appearing in a total of thirteen productions. Some of her notable performances include "Years Ago" in 1946, "Goodbye, My Fancy" in 1948, and "The Wisteria Trees" in 1950, where she worked alongside Helen Hayes, a renowned actress who became a close friend and the godmother of Leslie's daughter.
